Wide-Input SMPS & Variable Bench DC Supplies Built in Nashik

Most industrial SMPS modules quote an input range of 85–265 VAC. That covers the world's mains sockets and very little else. The moment a supply has to run off a 415 V three-phase line-to-line feed, an industrial bus that sags and surges across a shift, or a rural supply that does neither of the things the datasheet assumed, that range stops being enough — and the usual fix is a step-down transformer bolted into a cabinet that had no room for one.

 

Ameet Electro Systems (Nashik, Maharashtra) manufactures AC-DC power supplies for industrial equipment, high-voltage assemblies, and test benches. Our wide-range SMPS accepts 90 VAC to 500 VAC on a single part number — one module that runs from a 110 V socket, a 230 V socket, or a 415 V industrial line without a transformer in front of it. Embedded SMPS or Bench Supply — Which to Specify

Our range splits into two families that answer different questions. Buyers occasionally ask for one when they need the other, so it is worth separating them before the product list.

Embedded SMPS Modules

A switched-mode power supply module is built into your equipment and forgotten. It has one job: convert incoming AC to a single regulated DC rail, at a fixed voltage, for the life of the machine. It has no front panel, no adjustment, and no display, because nobody should be adjusting it after commissioning.

 

When to specify an embedded SMPS:

 

  • Powering control electronics, relays, sensors, or indication inside a panel or machine

  • Any application where the supply is installed once and never touched again

  • Situations where the incoming supply voltage is uncertain, unstable, or varies between deployment sites

  • OEM builds where the same product ships to territories with different mains standards

Variable Bench DC Supplies

A bench supply is an instrument. It sits on a workbench with a front panel, adjustable output, and metering, and its value is that you can dial in a voltage, watch the current, and change both while you work.

 

When to specify a bench supply:

 

  • Development, test, repair, and fault-finding work

  • QC benches where a device under test must be brought up gradually or run at several operating points

  • Teaching and training laboratories

  • Any situation where the output needs to be adjusted or observed

The Selection Rule

If a human needs to adjust it, specify a bench supply. If it lives inside a machine and runs at one voltage forever, specify an SMPS module — and if the incoming supply is anything other than a well-behaved 230 V socket, specify a wide-input one.

Product Range

1 — PSU-SWR01-12V25W — Wide Range SMPS

The PSU-SWR01 accepts any input from 90 VAC to 500 VAC and delivers a regulated 12 VDC rail at 25 W. That input span is the reason the product exists: it covers 110 V and 230 V single-phase mains, 415 V three-phase line-to-line, and the industrial supplies in between, on one part number.

 

For an equipment builder, this collapses a stocking problem. A machine shipped to three territories, or a panel fed from whatever the site happens to provide, uses the same module in every build — no input-voltage variant to select at order time, no step-down transformer, no wrong-variant returns from the field. For maintenance teams, it means one spare on the shelf covers every cabinet in the plant.

 

It is also the reason the module tolerates supplies that misbehave. A feeder that sags to 180 V under load and settles at 440 V overnight stays comfortably inside the range at both extremes.

Primary applications: Control electronics inside industrial panels and machines; sensor and relay supply rails; HV assembly auxiliary supplies; OEM equipment shipped across multiple mains territories; sites with unstable or non-standard incoming supply.

 

Other output voltages: If you need a rail other than 12 V, or more than 25 W, tell us the voltage, current and physical envelope — see Custom Specifications below. The wide-input argument applies the same way whatever the output rail.

2 — DC Power Supply, 0–36 V / 10 A (Variable)

Variable output · 10 A · Bench instrument

 

The largest supply in our bench range, adjustable from 0 to 36 V at up to 10 A. The current rating is what distinguishes it: 10 A is enough to run motors, solenoids, contactors, automotive 12 V and 24 V loads, and power-electronics prototypes that a 1 A laboratory supply cannot bring up at all.

 

The 0–36 V span covers 12 V and 24 V nominal systems with margin above both, which suits automotive and industrial control work where a supply frequently has to be taken above nominal to test regulation and protection behaviour.

Primary applications: Motor, solenoid, and contactor testing; automotive 12 V / 24 V bench work; power-electronics development; QC benches running devices at several operating points.

3 — DC Power Supply, ±15 V / 1 A (Fixed)

Fixed dual rail · ±15 V · 1 A

 

A fixed dual-rail supply providing +15 V and −15 V at 1 A. This is the standard rail pair for analogue circuitry — operational amplifiers, instrumentation amplifiers, analogue signal conditioning, and comparator circuits — where a symmetrical supply about ground is required and a single-rail bench supply will not do.

 

Because the output is fixed, there is nothing to set incorrectly. For a teaching laboratory or a production test bench running the same analogue assembly repeatedly, that is a feature rather than a limitation.

Primary applications: Analogue circuit development and test; op-amp and instrumentation-amplifier benches; signal-conditioning assemblies; electronics teaching laboratories.

4 — DC Power Supply, 0–30 V / 0–1 A (Variable)

Variable output · Variable current limit · Bench instrument

 

A general-purpose variable bench supply adjustable from 0 to 30 V, with output current adjustable from 0 to 1 A. The adjustable current limit is the useful part: setting a ceiling before power is applied means a shorted or mis-wired board draws the limit instead of whatever the supply can deliver, which is how prototypes survive their first power-up.

 

This is the standard bench supply for development work, electronics teaching, and repair — the one that spends its life on a workbench being adjusted.

Primary applications: Electronics development and prototyping; repair and fault-finding benches; ITI, polytechnic, and engineering-college electronics laboratories; low-power device testing.

Why 90–500 VAC Changes What You Have to Stock

The input range on a power supply looks like a specification detail until it becomes a logistics problem.

 

A standard 85–265 VAC module forces a decision at order time: which input variant does this unit need? That decision has to be right at the point of manufacture, held correctly through the supply chain, and repeated for every spare that ships to every site. When it is wrong, the failure appears at commissioning — in another country, in front of the customer.

 

A 90–500 VAC input removes the decision:

 

  • One part number, every territory. The same module works on 110 V North American mains, 230 V Indian and European mains, and 415 V three-phase line-to-line. No variant selection, no regional BOM.

  • One spare covers the plant. Maintenance stores hold a single item instead of matching each cabinet to its input variant.

  • No step-down transformer. Panels fed from a 415 V line take the module directly, saving the transformer, its enclosure space, its heat, and its cost.

  • Tolerance of a supply that misbehaves. Feeders that sag under load or rise off-peak stay inside the range at both ends, rather than tripping the supply's input protection at one of them.

 

This is also why the module suits high-voltage assemblies, where auxiliary electronics frequently sit in a cabinet fed from an industrial line rather than a convenient socket.

In-house manufacture: All power supplies are designed, assembled, and tested in-house at Satpur MIDC, Nashik — Maharashtra's established industrial corridor. We have been manufacturing electronic assemblies in-house since 2008.

 

Pre-dispatch testing: Every unit is tested in-house before it ships, and all power supplies are manufactured under strict quality control. What does "wide input range" actually mean on an SMPS?

It is the span of AC input voltage over which the supply holds its rated DC output. A typical industrial module is specified at 85–265 VAC, which covers single-phase mains worldwide. Our PSU-SWR01 is specified at 90–500 VAC, which additionally covers 415 V three-phase line-to-line and industrial supplies well above socket voltage. The practical consequence is that one part number works everywhere, with no input variant to select and no step-down transformer.

Can one SMPS really run on both 230 V and 415 V?

Yes — that is precisely what a 90–500 VAC input range is for. The PSU-SWR01 delivers the same regulated 12 VDC output whether it is fed from a 110 V socket, a 230 V socket, or a 415 V industrial line. This is why equipment builders shipping to multiple territories, and maintenance teams holding spares for mixed installations, specify a wide-input module rather than stocking variants.

What is the difference between an SMPS module and a bench power supply?

An SMPS module is built into equipment, has a fixed output, and is not intended to be adjusted after commissioning. A bench power supply is an instrument with a front panel, adjustable output, and metering, designed to be changed while you work. Specify the module for anything that lives inside a machine; specify the bench supply for development, test, repair, and teaching.

Why does a bench supply need an adjustable current limit?

Setting a current ceiling before applying power means a shorted or mis-wired board draws only the limit you set, instead of everything the supply can deliver. It is the difference between a prototype that survives its first power-up and one that does not. Our 0–30 V / 0–1 A supply has adjustable current from 0 to 1 A for this reason.

Why is a ±15 V supply fixed rather than variable?

±15 V is the standard symmetrical rail pair for analogue circuitry — op-amps, instrumentation amplifiers, and signal conditioning — and those circuits want exactly that voltage. Making it fixed removes the possibility of setting it wrong, which is an advantage on a teaching bench or a production test station running the same assembly repeatedly.
